The Myth Behind Alicia Keys’ ‘Girl On Fire’ MTV VMA Performance

09/07/12, NEW MUSIC,VIDEOS

Many people who were watching the MTV VMAs last night caught the performance of Alicia Keys before turning the channel to the Democratic National Convention. During Alicia’s peformance it seems that many in the twitter universe were under the impression that Alicia actually wrote the single ‘Girl On Fire’ in reference to Katniss Everdeen of The Hunger Games books/movies; see flaming dress below.

However, that was quickly put to rest once US Gymnist Gabby took the stage and reminded us of why whe stole our hearts during the Olympics.

Either way I am sure the song is about the strength of determined young women and how we as a nation as a people need to support them all… With that being said take a look at Alicia’s performance below and tell us what you guys think.

Oh did I forget to mention Nicki Minaj also performed with Alicia during ‘Girl On Fire.’
