Jay-Z was a no-show at the BET Hip-Hop Awards because he was too busy reppin’ Brooklyn during the opening of the new Brooklyn Barclay Center with two concerts over the weekend (pics/video).
On Friday night, Jay opened the show with his hometown anthems “Where I’m From” and “Brooklyn Go Hard.” He paid homage to another one of Brooklyn’s sons, Biggie, by rapping some of the lyrics from “Juicy,” and was joined onstage by BK legend Big Daddy Kane, who performed “Ain’t No Half Steppin’” and “Warm It Up, Kane.”
The stars came out support Jay-Z and Brooklyn at the Barclay Center including Beyoncé, Pharrell, Dave Chappelle and Magic Johnson all appeared Friday night for the opening. Sunday night was no different offering up stars like J. Cole, Carmelo and La La Anthony, Bow Wow, Adrienne Bailon, John Legend and his fiancé Chrissy Teigen. Witht two concerts under his belt he now only has 6 more to go.
